How It Works

When Oakland Firefighters encounter people in need during or after a 9-1-1 Emergency call, or want to assist someone or an organization in need in the Oakland Community, they submit a request to do a random act of kindness.  When the request is approved by the Board of Directors, the funds and resources will be provided to fulfill the request.

Only requests received through Oakland Firefighters or employees of the Oakland Fire Department are accepted.  Random Acts does not accept requests directly from the general public.  The objective of the program is to create opportunities for members of the fire department to help people in need by doing random acts of kindness.

Wow! What a great site! I think that the Oakland Fire dept. is awesome! I worked beside them for a year and a half (OPD) and saw there professionalism and heroism on a regular basis. But I had no idea that they had extended themselves to the public in this way. Great website and wonderful work!! Love you guys (and gals) thank you for all you do! Jeri Delaney
