On Saturday, June 24, 2017, Oakland Firefighters Random Acts will present the 16th Annual Awards & Dinner Dance “Paying It Forward”. Our program will recognize four people in our Community who have paid it forward to help people in need.
Thousands of people drove by wheelchair bound paraplegic Quincey Carr everyday. OPD Sergeant Clay Burch took the time to stop and talk to Quincey and learn about his story. Officer Burch’s Random Act of Kindness for Paraplegic Quincey Carr was featured in this KTVU news story: http://www.ktvu.com/news/216088073-story
Paramedic Julie Silva of Paramedics Plus goes above and beyond the call of duty when her Random Acts of Kindness to help people continue long after the 9-1-1 Emergency call is over. Julie really cares about the people she serves – she cares A LOT. And her compassion doesn’t end when her shift is over.
Janet Childs is a Critical Incident Stress Management trainer and coordinator to many Bay Area Police and Firefighters. Janet was manditorily evacuated from her trailer park during the recent floods in San Jose. While at the evacuation center, Janet helped to debrief and support other flood victims despite losing many of her own personal belongings and being impacted by the floods herself.
This relaxed and fun evening will also include Cocktail Hour with Firefighter Bartenders, a plentiful and delicious Dinner, great Live & Silent Auctions, a really fun Photo Booth, free Fentons Ice Cream, free Massages by the National Holistic Institute, the Annual Dinner Dance Group Photo, Raffle Drawing prizes, and more. Party & Dance until Midnight with Mike Bowns & DJMB Entertainment.
The funds raised at this charitable benefit will enable Oakland Firefighters to create Random Acts of Kindness when they encounter people in need in the Oakland Community and after their 9-1-1 Emergency calls.
Please come join us.
