Oakland Firefighters Random Acts 9th Annual Awards & Dinner Dance Saturday, May 22, 2010 Greek Orthodox Cathedral 4700 Lincoln Avenue, Oakland 5:00 pm - 12 Midnight Doors Open for Cocktails  5:00 pm Opening Ceremony  6:30 pm Tickets $75 (Advance & At Door) Call Random Acts at (510) 465-8422 On Saturday, May 22, 2010, Oakland Firefighters Random Acts presents the 9th Annual Awards & Dinner Dance at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension in Oakland, California.  Proceeds from this event will provide funds and resources for Oakland Firefighters to create Random Acts of Kindness when they encounter people in need in the Oakland Community and on their Emergency 911 calls.  We invite you to join us in celebrating all the good work Oakland Firefighters do, beyond their emergency response work, to make a positive difference. This year's charitable benefit will recognize a remarkable organization that has provided a positive alternative in East Oakland to underprivileged youth.  Pictured here are Oakland Firefighters delivering gardening supplies to the East Oakland Boxing Association.  A U.S. Coast Guard rep will tell about how he got approval from the second in command in Washington DC to authorize a helicopter ride to fulfill a wish for a cancer patient at Oakland Children's Hospital.  A school teacher's classroom was totally destroyed by a fire that was deliberately set one week before the last day of school and resulted in the loss of all her teacher resources and the children's schoolwork.  Her inspirational words to her students gave them hope and a realization of what is really important in life.  Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Mom Cora Green, is beloved by Oakland Firefighters and considered the mother of the Oakland Fire Department.  Mom Green is recognized for her 50 years of service to the Oakland Community.  The Random Acts Dinner Dance will also include a live fire arts performance sponsored by The Crucible, a great Live and Silent Auction, a delicious Buffet Dinner, the Fentons Ice Cream Scooping Station, and Oakland Firefighter Bartenders.  The Raiderettes will sign autographs, pose for photos, and sell raffle tickets giving you an opportunity to win the raffle drawing Grand Prize of 4 Days & 3 Nights for Two (2) in a Luxury Condo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, plus Airfare.  Then, dance until midnight with the Dave Martin House Party band who will rock the house.
